Colombia - a paradise for travellers or a taboo due to civil war? Tell us your opinion about Colombia!
BackgroundA military conflict between the Colombian government and the guerilla threatens the country since the 60s. The rate of homicide and kidnapping has risen mainly in the 90s. Nevertheless, is it safe to visit the country after the recent developments or would it be better to stay away from the country? The opinions vary. Federal foreign offices of various countries advise against traveling through the country. On the other hand, many travelers returning from Colombia report that it is safe enough to visit. The purpose of this forum is to get a general idea about travel experiences in Colombia.

My experience in Colombia: The security situation is better than its reputation, as long as common rules are respected and certain areas are avoided, Colombia is a save place to explore.

My relation with Colombia: Born here. Living and inviting you to come and visit this wonderful country
Colombia is a country to love, full of nice and kind people who will treat you as you deserve. It has the best lanscapes, colours and diversity. Here you can get the weather you like, hot, cold, if you like snow or dessert, jungle or sea. Anything you search for is here. Of course, security is a great thing to matter but you must know things here are not as others say it is. Michel Marcus, who is a security expert and counselor of the European Union and The United Nations remembers that homicide rates are less in Bogota than cities like Washington. It is true we have a big problem but is not that big as people think, we also are in a recovery period. Why don't you come and write your own opinion and help us change the world from here. I can help you if you like.

My relation with Colombia: TuPraktika Come to Colombia, Colombia is not dangerous!
We know that Colombia is world-renowned for its problems with drug trafficking and violence. Nevertheless, we want to point out that this narrow perception of our country is just that; narrow and, all-in-all, a gross over-generalization. Colombian conflict is regionally manifested in some rural areas of our country, yet, most of the urban centers, like Bogotá D.C., Medellín, Cartagena, Santa Marta, etc., are perfectly secure.
For example, Bogotá is no less safe than other large urban centers such as Washington D.C., Caracas, Rio de Janeiro, Sau Paulo, City of Panama and City of Mexico.
Lots of our friends call Colombia “The Paradise on Earth”.
